The visitors have the fitness edge, given they&#8217;re in the middle of their domestic season, and they&#8217;ve won eight of their last nine Eliteserien games.

Dinamo Zagreb got past Swiss champions Thun in the previous round of Champions League qualifiers, and if anything, a clash against Kauno Zalgiris looks a step down in class. This should be a comfortable success for the Croatians.

Kauno Zalgiris scored only once and hit just three shots on target across the two legs of their tie with Klaksvik and the Lithuanians are unlikely to trouble Dinamo Zagreb on hostile territory.

NEC scored in 33 of their 34 Eredivisie matches last season, scoring 77 goals in total while conceding 53. That high-scoring style should see an open match as they return to Europe. Olympiacos drew 1-1 with PSV and beat Ajax 2-1 away from home in last season&#8217;s Champions League, so back both teams to score in this clash.

Both Teams To Score

NEC&#8217;s matches with top Eredivisie sides last season tended to be high-scoring. They beat PSV 3-2 on two occasions, while also losing 5-3 against the champions. They suffered three 3-2 defeats across their league campaign, and they face an Olympiacos side that beat Ajax 2-1 away from home earlier this year.

Lyon have a stellar away record in Europe across the last couple of years, losing once in 90 minutes across 11 games. They won at each of the top three and Monaco on their way to finishing fourth in Ligue 1 last season, while Sparta Prague were unceremoniously dumped out of the Conference League by AZ.

Lyon have scored twice in four of their six preseason matches, and they picked up a 4-3 win at Sparta in the Europa League in 2021. This match may struggle to live-up to that high-scoring clash, but Lyon have the cutting edge to claim a first-leg victory.

Sabah have won their first four games in the Champions League, and they can hold their own against an AGF side that lost 4-1 at home in the last round. The Danish champions have also failed to win their first two league games of the season, conceding 3.3 Expected Goals in a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Double Chance

AGF fell to a 4-1 home defeat in the last round, but Sabah have yet to score more than twice in Europe this term. The visitors have scored exactly two goals in three of their four qualifiers this season, while BTTS has landed in all four matches AGF have played this term.

Both teams have scored in each of Rangers&#8217; last nine competitive games and Jagiellonia are on a nine-game scoring streak. That suggests we should see goals at both ends in this first leg.

Rangers failed to claim any points on their travels in the Europa League main draw last season and they also failed to win any European qualifiers on the road. They may struggle to justify their position as favourites to win on Thursday and Jagiellonia had a reasonable home record in Poland’s top flight last term. The hosts are also on a six-game unbeaten run stretching back into last season so a 1-1 stalemate seems a reasonable correct score prediction.

Bristol City have an opportunity to impress new boss Michael Skubala on Thursday and they can see off League Two side Walsall with room to spare. The Saddlers struggled in the second half of last season and have been poor in pre-season, Championship outfit Bristol City should be too strong and they can cover a -1 handicap.

Handicap - 3 Way

There have been a couple of pre-season games where Bristol City have scored heavily and a 3-0 home win seems a reasonable correct score prediction.  Walsall shipped three in their final game of the League Two campaign and their attacking struggles over the summer suggest they won&#8217;t be able to get on the scoresheet at Ashton Gate.

Hearts have lost all three of their games so far this season and have scored just one goal. Benfica beat both Real Madrid and Napoli at home in the Champions League last season and they crushed St Gallen 5-0 in their last home qualifying game. The Portuguese big guns should be far too strong for Hearts, they look capable of winning without conceding.

Hearts may see this game as an exercise in damage limitation as they will be keen to ensure the tie remains alive ahead of a second leg in Edinburgh, but Benfica have enough quality to win convincingly regardless. Benfica scored five in victory over St Gallen and have also hit five in one of their pre-season games, a 5-0 home win has a chance.

Like the other 2 Premier League teams participating in this mini warm up tournament, Arsenal have selected a strong 25 man squad to travel with to Singapore.
Petr Cech is in line to make his debut for The Gunners, alongside fellow star players such as Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Per Mertesacker, and Laurent Koscielny.
This does seem like a completely full strength Arsenal squad, and the team will still be riding high on their 4-0 demolition of Aston Villa in the FA Cup Final in May.
Their defence of the FA Cup was a welcome end to a season which saw them in incredible form at some points.
Unfortunately, they slipped during the last few weeks of the Premier League season, eventually finishing in 3rd position as Manchester City pipped them to the runners up spot.
But Arsenal fans should feel confident for the upcoming season. They really looked like a cohesive unit for the latter parts of last season, and could have been title contenders had it not been for Chelsea&#8217;s early runaway.
Add to this the arrival of a world class goalkeeper in Petr Cech, and they will feel fairly confident of giving Chelsea a run for their money in the coming season.

They will certainly feel confident about this match in particular. Only one of these local hybrid teams have beaten a Premier League club since the competition started in 2003, when Thailand beat Everton in a penalty shootout back in 2005.
Singapore Select 11&#8217;s only match so far was against Juventus last summer, when they lost 5-0 in a straightforward victory for the Serie A champions.
With Petr Cech in between the sticks, and the general overall better quality of the Arsenal team, I expect them to win comfortably and for Cech to keep a clean sheet on his debut. Odds of 1/2 for Arsenal to Win to Nil may seem short, but I think they&#8217;re fair.

Portsmouth spent last season battling the drop and seem set for another season of struggle. They have made some bold transfer moves but they have signed players unproven in this league, and don&#8217;t necessarily seem any stronger than they were last season so they are among the contenders to drop down to League One.
