West Bromwich Albion vs Southampton Predictions

• Both teams have scored in ten of Southampton’s 13 league matches this season.
• There have been at least three goals in three of West Brom’s last four Championship games.

Albion look much-improved

West Brom finished just four points above the Championship relegation zone last season, but they have been much stronger this time and a 3-1 win at West Ham will have them believing they can get into the Premier League.

Ten points in their last four matches have pushed into into fourth in the table and they have scored nine goals in that period, so things are heading in the right direction and they demonstrated their resolve the last time they played in front of their own fans when they recovered from a two-goal deficit to beat Blackburn.

So there is plenty of belief which should help them in a potentially key fixture against Southampton, who themselves look charged for a promotion push.

No hangover for Saints

The Saints would be second in the second-tier table behind Middlesbrough had they not received a four-point penalty for the spying scandal that resulted in them being thrown out of last season’s playoffs.

That could have caused a real hangover, but Tonda Eckert’s side seem to have put their problems behind them, losing just once to Wrexham since falling to a 2-1 loss at Watford on the opening weekend.

They head to the Midlands having posted a 4-1 win over QPR at St Mary’s on Saturday, and both teams scoring has been a feature of their matches this season.

That has happened in ten of their 13 league outings and in each of West Brom’s four, so we can expect a high-scoring game with goals at both ends, while correct-score enthusiasts may wish to take a chance on a 2-2 draw as there seems little to separate the teams.
