West Bromwich Albion vs Southampton Predictions
- Seven goals were scored in WBA’s last league game against Chelsea.
- Southampton were involved in a five-goal thriller with Burnley in their last assignment.
- Southampton have scored at least twice in four of their last five fixtures.
- West Brom have won only two of their 15 Premier League home matches this term.
Entertaining clash at the Hawthorns anticipated
West Brom produced one of the shocks of season last week when they made the most of a one-man advantage to demolish Chelsea 5-2 at Stamford Bridge, and some of the football the Baggies played in London was uncharacteristically sublime.
As a result, Albion should be full of confidence for the visit of Southampton on Monday, though the Saints will travel north with renewed self-belief themselves after their thrilling comeback win against Burnley.
Southampton clawed their way back to parity from a two-goal deficit before they completed the turnaround with a 66th minute Nathan Redmond effort to end their six-game wait for a home victory.
The Saints have now scored at least two goals in four of their last five assignments, and their re-sharpened edge in the final third makes them a dangerous prospect for WBA at the Hawthorns.
Albion’s slick performance at Stamford Bridge and Southampton’s similarly incisive display against the Clarets means both teams will start Monday’s game ready to attack, and goals could be in the offing as a result.
WBA’s win over Chelsea rekindled their flickering survival hopes, and only another victory will suffice to keep their dreams of a great escape alive.
Expect the Baggies to go for the jugular then in an open game, where backing the over 2.5 goals and both teams to score combination is advisable at the prices on offer, while our 2-2 correct score prediction tips both resurgent teams to leave the Hawthorns with a point.
West Bromwich Albion injuries and team news
Sam Allardyce will be tempted to keep the same XI together than performed so well against Chelsea, though Conor Gallagher’s availability to Monday could give the Baggies’ manager something to think about.
Branislav Ivanovic, who came on and then off again against his former club, should miss out however.
Southampton and team news
James Ward-Prowse, Danny Ings and Theo Walcott were all fit to start against Burnley last weekend, and all three players should feature from the first whistle again on Monday.
Oriol Romeu is still a notable absentee in midfield however.
