Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday has put their chase for the Premier League title in severe jeopardy. With both Leicester and Spurs winning at the weekend Arsene Wenger now finds his team five points adrift of the top spot. They are also 2-0 down to Barcelona on aggregate so they will have to bounce back to form quickly otherwise they will find themselves out of the running of two major competitions.

Their defeat to Manchester United made it two defeats in a row for Arsenal for the first time since September, but before that they had won three of their last five. I can’t see them slipping up here, and despite their awful defensive display at Old Trafford their attack actually looked pretty sharp.

This sharp looking attack will be facing a Swansea side who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last five matches, and to make matters worse the Swans have conceded 15 goals in their last eight outings in all competitions.

This has left Swansea in some relegation trouble despite a mini resurgence a few weeks ago. They are only three points above the Premier League drop zone in 16th, and they will be more focused on crucial bottom half of the table clashes coming up such as Bournemouth and Norwich than a tough match at the Emirates. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see Francesco Guidolin leave a few players out of his squad in order to have them fully rested for Saturday’s home match against 17th placed Norwich.

Away from home it’s going to be very difficult for Swansea to keep Arsenal out on Wednesday, but the defeat to Manchester United showed some large cracks in the Arsenal defence. Both sides’ shoddy defending recently makes me think a few goals could be on the cards, and 4/5 for Over 2.5 Goals looks very good value. I do think Arsenal will get the better of the struggling visitors though, and a 2-1 correct score prediction looks good to me.
