In-form pair meet in early kick off

League leaders Arsenal face a tricky trip to Aston Villa in the Premier League’s early kick off on Saturday.

The Gunners are unbeaten across all competitions since August and they have 13 wins in their last 15 games. The visitors are the clear favourites to come away with maximum points but Villa shouldn’t be underestimated as they have put together a six-game winning run of their own and at home they’ve picked up eight wins on the spin.

With both attacks in fine form the best angle for our main bet could be focusing on the goals markets. Both teams to score is one option, but the slightly bigger price on over 2.5 goals looks the best pick.

Both sides can add to goals total

Villa’s eight game winning streak at Villa Park suggests they can get on the scoresheet against the Premier League’s best defence this weekend. Unai Emery’s side have only failed to score in one of their last 15 games across all competitions and they hit four in midweek in a stunning comeback win at Brighton, recovering from 2-0 down to triumph 4-3.

Arsenal have scored in 18 consecutive games and have only failed to score in one of their games this season across all competitions. The Gunners have also conceded in four of their last five games and five of the seven Premier League goals they have conceded have come away from home, so both sides should be able to contribute to the total.

Furthermore, over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in four of Villa’s last five games and in four of Arsenal’s last six.

Spoils could be shared in Birmingham

It wouldn’t register as a massive surprise to see either side nick this game given the recent form of the two teams.

With home advantage, Villa may be able to at least deny Arsenal a win and a 2-2 draw has a chance in the correct score market.

Arsenal have played out score draws in their last two away league games, although admittedly they were perhaps unlucky not to win both games, and they may be frustrated again by this in-form Villa outfit.

The Gunners have scored at least twice in seven of their last eight games and Villa have struck more than once in five of their last six, so there is a decent chance we could see an entertaining stalemate in the opening Premier League game of the weekend.

Ollie Watkins has had a difficult season for Villa but his two-goal haul against Brighton may prove to be a turning point for the striker. Watkins scored Villa’s equaliser at the Emirates when these sides last met last season and he can follow up his brace against Albion with another goal this weekend.
