Newport keen to end campaign on a high

It’s fair to say that Newport’s season completely imploded, with a run of just one win in seven games ending their play-off hopes before a surprise 2-1 victory at Port Vale last weekend.

That result shows that the Exiles are still desperate to finish the campaign on a positive note, but they do need to arrest an alarming slump of four straight losses at Rodney Parade.

James Rowberry’s side have only been defeated five times in their last 14 at home though, picking up six wins in the process, while 15 of their 22 league games in South Wales have contained three or more goals.

Rochdale wretched on the road

Rochdale have had a dreadful time away from Spotland of late, losing six successive games and winning just once in 14 – and even that victory came against relegated Scunthorpe.

Robbie Stockdale’s side have been decent at home, but they simply have not cracked things on the road, with their two victories against sides in the top half of the table coming way back in August and September.

Four of their last eight away fixtures have contained at least three goals, that despite Dale failing to score in five of them, so there are defensive issues for the side.

I predict that Newport will finish the season strongly with a win and that there will be three or more goals in the match, with 3-1 to the Exiles my correct score prediction.
