Slovakia 2-0

Reason for tip

Slovakia won last month’s reverse meeting 2-0 and they can repeat that scoreline on Monday given their last five victories have been to nil and they have scored exactly two goals in each of their last two games.

David Strelec To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Slovan Bratislava forward Strelec is in form, netting both goals in Slovakia’s 2-2 draw with Sweden on Friday and also getting on the scoresheet in the reverse meeting with Azerbaijan. He could grab his seventh international goal in this one.

Azerbaijan vs Slovakia Predictions

  • Azerbaijan have lost all three of their matches in this season’s Nations League.
  • Slovakia won last month’s reverse meeting in Kosice 2-0
  • The Falcons have only lost one of their last 10 matches inside the regulation 90 minutes

Azerbaijan struggling for form

Azerbaijan only missed out on promotion to League B of the Nations League during the 2022/23 season by three points, but they have struggled this time around, losing all three of their matches in League C Group 1, including a 2-0 defeat in Slovakia last month.

New head coach Fernando Santos has lost all three of his games in charge, but Azerbaijan’s struggles go back further than that, as they have only won two of their seven matches this calendar year and both of those successes were in friendlies against Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

Slovakia a tough nut to crack

Slovakia reached the last 16 of this summer’s Euros where they were seconds away from beating eventual finalists England, and they have only lost one of their last 10 internationals inside the regulation 90 minutes.

The Falcons opened their Nations League campaign with wins over Estonia and Azerbaijan to nil, while they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Sweden on Friday night, David Strelec scoring both of their goals.

Slovan Bratislava forward Strelec also netted in the reverse fixture against Azerbaijan and can do so again on Monday, while Slovakia, whose last five victories have been to nil, can also replicate last month’s 2-0 scoreline against the National Team.
