    Draw

    Reason for tip

Japan have taken four points from their two World Cup fixtures so they can play with some freedom in their final group game against Sweden with qualification all but secure. Sweden are also in decent shape following a high-scoring win over Tunisia and a point in this clash would likely see them through to the knockout stages too, but they will want to avoid a loss which could make things more nervy. A cagey draw looks the best betting option in this contest, with three of the four meetings between these two ending that way.

    Draw 1-1

    Reason for tip

Japan and Sweden have scored six goals each across their opening two fixtures at the 2026 World Cup but this encounter could be a low-scoring affair and a 1-1 draw looks a likely outcome. Both sides have enjoyed their matches with group whipping-boys Tunisia, but contrasting results against the Netherlands have lifted Japan into second spot in Group F with a game to go. A loss would leave Sweden in a slightly vulnerable spot so they are likely to push for a positive result and a 1-1 draw looks a solid option for correct-score punters.

    Yasin Ayari To Score Anytime

    Reason for tip

Yasin Ayari has scored two stunning goals for Sweden at this World Cup and his penchant for a long-range strike makes his a valued candidate to get on the scoresheet again this week. Changes may be at a premium in a cagey contest, but the Swedish midfielder won’t think twice about having a pop at goal should the opportunity present itself and with his confidence high.

    Japan vs Sweden Predictions

    • Japan have lost just one of their last 15 matches in all competitions
    • Three of the four meetings between these two sides have been draws in which both teams have scored
    • Japan and Sweden have scored six goals each across their opening two matches

Dallas draw could suit Group F rivals

The Netherlands look to have secured top spot in World Cup Group F after their 5-1 hammering of Sweden on Saturday and with already-eliminated bottom side Tunisia still to come.

But the chase for second spot could provide this group with an intriguing climax, with Japan and Sweden looking to secure their place in the last 32 behind the Dutch.

Japan sit second on four points so look to have done enough to go through, while Sweden are also hopeful of progressing as they hold a strong position to qualify as one of the highest-ranked third-placed sides.

That may be enough to reach the knockout stages, while a point against Japan would move Sweden on to four points and put them on an even stronger footing.

Given the situation, backing a draw looks the best bet as neither side need to push too hard to force a result.

Sweden won’t want to give anything away as a loss would weaken their chances of extending their stay at the tournament, while a draw would seal second spot for Japan.

Three of the four previous meetings between these two have finished all square, two of those ending 1-1.

That looks a solid correct-score bet as a cagey affair looks likely on Friday.

Should Sweden get on the scoresheet, Yasin Ayari looks their best-value option to be backed ahead of star men Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.

Ayari has two goals at this tournament following his brace against Tunisia and his ability to hit the target from long range opens up his chances in what could be a tight contest.
