Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions
The Catalans have lost 2 of their last 3 La Liga matches, a minor crisis by their own incredibly high standards. They both came in tricky away matches but a 4-1 defeat at Celta Vigo and a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla are worrying results especially when you consider Real Madrid have only conceded 2 goals all season.
Barca have shipped 9 already and only 6 sides in the division have conceded more so there are a lot of things to work on defensively for them. Rayo Vallecano are an attacking side and although often it is to their downfall, they don’t just sit back even against the top sides. They scored on their visits to the Bernabeu, Camp Nou and Vicente Calderon last season but still left all three grounds without a point. They lost 6-1 at Barcelona last term and with Barcelona not looking good at the back they’ll fancy their chances of scoring in this game.
With Barca missing the injured Lionel Messi and not at their best going forward either, Rayo should be able to avoid such a heavy beating this time but when you consider Barcelona have won 19 of their 22 La Liga home matches since the start of last season it’s tough to see them getting a result.
Therefore odds of 11/10 provide great value for a Barcelona win but not to nil. Levante and Las Palmas have already scored at the Camp Nou this season so there is no reason why a Rayo Vallecano side who are likely to be more attacking can’t do likewise.
Barcelona have only won 1 match this term by more than 1 goal so they aren’t beating teams heavily like they did on a routine basis last year especially at home. Rayo haven’t been that impressive so far so they might make this a little more comfortable and a 3-1 home win looks a plausible outcome and can be backed at odds of 9/1.
