Barnsley vs Chelsea Predictions
- Chelsea have only conceded once in four games since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival.
- Barnsley have failed to score in four of their last seven matches.
- Chelsea beat lower league opponents in each of their last two FA Cup games.
Chelsea set for routine win in Yorkshire
Chelsea have enjoyed the luck of the draw in the FA Cup this season, and they look set for another routine win against lower league opposition when they visit the Oakwell Stadium to face Barnsley this week.
The Blues have already met Barnsley once this term, when the teams were paired in the early rounds of the Carabao Cup back in September. Chelsea were ruthless hosts on that occasion, pummelling their Championship visitors 6-0 at Stamford Bridge, and Thursday’s rematch promises to be just as one sided.
With three wins from four matches, Chelsea’s start under new boss Thomas Tuchel has been an impressive one, and Antonio Rudiger’s unfortunate own goal against Sheffield United remains the only time the Blues’ defences have been breached since the German’s appointment.
Barnsley meanwhile, have failed to score in four of their last seven assignments, and the Tykes could struggle to make an impact in the final third again when a possession-hungry Chelsea side hog the ball in Yorkshire on Thursday.
With the match result markets best avoided for this one, backing Chelsea to win to nil appeals at a more attractive price, while our correct score prediction tips the Blues to run out comfortable 3-0 winners.
The Londoners scored at least three times in each of their tests against lower league opponents in the FA Cup’s previous rounds, and their high-calibre attackers should prove too skilful for their Barnsley markers again.
