Barnsley vs Huddersfield Predictions
- Barnsley have won three of their last four Championship games.
- The Tykes have been victorious in five of their last seven starts at Oakwell.
- Huddersfield are winless in their last five away matches, losing three.
Tykes to Stay on Upward Curve
After three wins from four overall and five victories from their last seven outings at home, Barnsley are fancied to edge out Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town when the sides clash at Oakwell on Saturday.
Not even goal difference can split these two teams in the current Championship standings, but it’s Barnsley who make far more appeal for this Christmas contest based on their excellent home form and general upward trajectory under boss Valerian Ismael.
The Tykes were languishing 21st when Gerhard Struber departed in late October but have since risen to 13th under the guidance of Ismael, who has overseen five wins from seven games at Oakwell.
Barnsley’s two home defeats in that spell came against 2nd placed Bournemouth and 4th placed Brentford which is no disgrace, and they’re clearly a force to be reckoned with on their own turf for most opposition in the second tier.
Huddersfield are readily opposed after losing half of their ten away starts this season and they travel to South Yorkshire winless in their last five on the road, losing three.
The Terriers have also failed to score in five of their ten away matches, so we’re backing Barnsley to triumph 1-0 this weekend in what should be a hotly contested derby affair.
