Barnsley vs Oxford United Betting Tips & Predictions

This has the makings of a good final with both clubs keen to enjoy their day out at Wembley and hopefully bring home some silverware. Oxford have a great record in the cups this season and have already got the better of sides from all 3 higher divisions in various competitions this term. They are 2nd in League Two and if they can hold onto their better players could also go pretty well in League One next year as they seem to enjoy playing the better sides. They’ve seen off Swindon, Dagenham, Yeovil and Millwall to reach this point but have only won 2 of their last 6 matches in all competitions so they aren’t in their best form of the campaign.

Barnsley meanwhile have recovered from a really poor start to the season and their form in this competition has complemented their fine form in League One, which has seen them rise to 7th and the fringe of the play-offs. They’ve needed two penalty shoot-outs to reach the final beating Wigan on penalties in the Quarter-Finals and Fleetwood by the same method in the Semis. Barnsley have only lost 2 of their 18 matches so far in 2016 so they will be confident of their chances.

The Yorkshire club are only very slight favourites with the bookies though which might surprise a few people given they are at the right end of the league above Oxford and many are viewing this as a 50-50 game. That is primarily because of Oxford’s cup exploits and the fact they have one or two match-winners such as Kemar Roofe, who is clearly capable of playing at least 2 divisions higher up. Barnsley might not mind that some people are tipping Oxford though. Oxford were made favourites to beat Blackburn in the FA Cup 4th Round having seen off Swansea in the previous round but they were poor on the day, losing 3-0 at home to the Championship club.
