Barnsley vs Rotherham Predictions

  • Barnsley have only lost two of their last 13 Championship home games.
  • The Tykes are unbeaten in their last 10 meetings with Rotherham.
  • Rotherham have failed to score in five of their last seven fixtures.

Barnsley to secure South Yorkshire bragging rights

Barnsley could take a giant step towards securing a playoff place if they claim a victory over South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.

The Tykes have been one of the form sides in the division since the turn of the year, particularly on home soil, as they have lost just two of their last 13 league matches at Oakwell.

Valerien Ismael has also seen his side keep four clean-sheets across their last seven home fixtures, while they have conceded an average of less than a goal a game since the Frenchman took charge in October.

Rotherham’s hopes of avoiding the drop have been dented following a run of three successive defeats, as that leaves them four points adrift of safety, although they do have games in hand on all their relegation rivals.

Goals have been the main problem for Paul Warne’s side of late, as they have failed to net in five of their last seven fixtures, while they have averaged less than a goal a game on their travels this season.

The Millers also have a poor recent record against Barnsley, as they have failed to win any of the last 10 meetings between the two sides, losing seven of those games, and we are predicting another Barnsley triumph on Saturday.

Our prediction also includes Barnsley winning to nil, as that reflects the host’s impressive defensive record under Ismael, as well as Rotherham’s recent struggles in front of goal.
