Tip Reasoning

  • Bayern have won 5 of 6 home Bundesliga games, scoring 22 goals.
  • Arminia Bielefeld have won once all season to sit 17th in the Bundesliga.
  • Bielefeld have only netted 3 times on the road, all against fellow members of the Bundesliga’s current bottom 4.

Bayern Bounce Back

Bayern Munich were on the wrong end of an astonishing upset last weekend, losing 2-1 at Bavarian rivals Augsburg, who had won just twice all season. Julian Nagelsmann was raging after that defeat, and Bayern bounced back by securing top spot in their Champions League group via Tuesday’s win in Kiev.

On Saturday, they host another struggling Bundesliga side in Arminia Bielefeld. The visitors have only won one league game all season, but will have been frustrated not to double that tally last time out, when they conceded twice in a matter of moments to surrender a shock 2-0 lead to draw with Wolfsburg.

Bielefeld have, despite their troubles, managed to keep things relatively right on their travels, only conceding a goal per game on the road but only scoring 3 goals of their own. Their horrendous attacking record will be music to the ears of Nagelsmann, whose team have only kept 3 league clean sheets this season, although it should be noted that all those shutouts came at the Allianz.

Bayern Defence to Remain Untroubled?

As is always the case with Bayern’s Bundesliga outings, particularly at the Allianz, you have to search for good value when backing Nagelsmann’s men. Arminia’s pitiful tally of 3 away Bundesliga goals was racked up at Augsburg, Greuther, and Stuttgart, the other 3 teams which, along with Arminia, make up the Bundesliga’s bottom 4.

As a result, and with Bayern able to welcome back Dayot Upamecano and Niklas Sule after fielding a makeshift defence in midweek, I expect the home backline to remain untroubled.

Bayern will be determined to make amends for their shock defeat last weekend, which saw their lead at the top of the Bundesliga cut to a single point. 3-0 Bayern looks a solid correct score prediction for this fixture.
