Borussia Dortmund Draw No Bet

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich, who have failed to win three of their last six Bundesliga games, will miss legendary keeper Manuel Neuer and may not see the best of Harry Kane after his injury problems. A lack of pace in central defence also makes them vulnerable to being picked off by a Dortmund side that has has avoided defeat in 12 of 13 Bundesliga away games, including at Leverkusen.

Borussia Dortmund 3-1

Reason for tip

Bayern rarely fail to score, particularly at home, but Dortmund have the ability to hit them on the counter-attack with more pace and precision than most. Edin Terzic’s side have scored two or more goals in four of their last six away games. Bayern are likely to throw everything at them if they need a goal, so there will be more opportunities for Dortmund to seal victory with a third goal.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions

  • Bayern Munich have failed to win three of their last six Bundesliga games
  • Dortmund have avoided defeat in 12 of their 13 Bundesliga away games, including at Leverkusen
  • Bayern will be without Manuel Neuer while Harry Kane is a doubt to last 90 minutes

Bayern may be vulnerable in Der Klassiker

Borussia Dortmund may have their best chance of beating Bayern Munich in years when they have to Allianz Arena for Saturday’s latest Der Klassiker.

The Bundesliga champions will be without Manuel Neuer and Kingsley Coman through injury while players returning to fitness like Harry Kane and Aleksandar Pavlovic may not be risked.  Thomas Tuchel has been favouring Eric Dier alongside Matthijs de Ligt in central defence lately, but their lack of pace could be exploited by a rapid Dortmund attack.

That does not automatically mean the visitors won’t lose the game because Bayern’s recent dominance of the rivalry gives them the psychological edge. The Bavarians have won 10 of the last 11 head-to-head meetings since Dortmund’s last success in the fixture.

Goals are a given when these two meet

Bayern are coming off big-margin wins over Mainz (8-1) and Darmstadt (5-2), but Dortmund are a much better side than the two relegation-threatened clubs and they have fared well enough in some of their away games against the very best, such as in December’s 1-1 draw at Leverkusen, to suggest they can take something from the clash.

Goals are expected in this matchup, which has seen a total of 34 scored in the last seven meetings of the clubs, which works out at an average of almost five per game. Hence, the odds on over 2.5 and 3.5 goals are short and it is still only around 11/8 for five to be registered in Munich this Saturday.

The status of Bayern’s 31-goal top-scorer will be crucial to betting angles as his presence should tip the balance in favor of the hosts, but Dortmund are one of the best counter-attacking sides in the Bundesliga and should be encouraged by Neuer’s absence and some high-profile missteps from Tuchel’s men this year.
