Casa Pia Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Casa Pia enjoyed a fantastic first season in the Primeira Liga and only lost two of their final eight home league games, while Sporting ended in a disappointing fourth-place and failed to win seven of their 17 away days. The favourites required a late winner to take the points from Vizela last weekend and needed the same against Casa Pia in April.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Casa Pia’s last two home league games have ended as draws and the most recent of these was a 2-2 stalemate. Sporting Lisbon played out a 2-2 draw with Benfica in May and conceded twice against Vizela last weekend.

Casa Pia vs Sporting Lisbon Predictions

  • Sporting failed to win seven of their 17 league away games last season.
  • Casa Pia have only lost two of their last eight home games in the Primeira Division.
  • The last two Casa Pia home games have ended all square, with the most recent being a 2-2 draw.

Casa Pia look to build on excellent debut campaign

Sporting are huge favourites for their first away game of the season on Friday but Casa Pia could spring a surprise after they opened their season with a comprehensive victory over Farense.

The hosts enjoyed a fantastic first season in the Primeira Liga last term, finishing tenth in the table despite a poor finish once they took their eyes off the ball.

2023/24 got off to a winning start, too, with two Taca da Liga wins being followed by a 3-0 thrashing in their league opener. They lost just two of their final eight home games of the season and could get a point or more at Estadio Pina Manique on Friday.

One of these defeats did come against Sporting Lisbon, but the visiting favourites required a late goal to take the points against a Casa Pia side a man down and last term’s fourth-place finishers were not overly convincing in their opener.

Underdogs can spring a surprise

Sporting beat Vizela 3-2 last weekend but showed a lot of frailty in the second half, losing a two-goal lead before Paulinho rescued the points with a last-minute winner. They failed to win seven of their 17 Primeira Liga away days last term and a Casa Pia double chance holds plenty of appeal.

A 2-2 correct score prediction also looks tempting at a big price. Casa Pia’s last two home games have ended as draws and one of these was a 2-2 tie with Estoril, while Sporting Lisbon drew three of their final ten league games, including a 2-2 draw with Benfica in May.
