Bayern out to make a statement at home

Bayern Munich have already beaten RB Leipzig twice this season by an aggregate score of 11-1 so Ole Werner’s men have a tough task on their hands when they visit the Bundesliga leaders in this DFB-Pokal quarter-final on Wednesday.

After a little wobble which saw them lose to Augsburg and draw with Hamburg, Bayern got right back to winning ways with a 5-1 success over Hoffenheim last time out.

They are six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga but do have a poor record in this competition recently given their dominance of German football as a whole.

High-scoring affair likely

The Bavarians last won the DFB-Pokal in 2020, going five seasons without even reaching the final. Leipzig on the other hand won it in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023, as well as finishing as runners-up in 2021.

Nevertheless Bayern are fancied to get the better of their visitors in this clash, particularly as Leipzig’s recent form has been spotty.

They have lost four of their last eight matches and look set for more misery against Vincent Kompany’s side.
