Bayern Munich and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich won 14 of their 17 Bundesliga home games last season with both teams on the scoresheet in seven of their last 12 at Allianz Arena. BTTS has landed in seven of the last nine meetings between these clubs and Leipzig, who won just one of their last 10 away league matches, have scored on each of their last five visits to Munich’s home.

Bayern Munich 3-1

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich averaged just under three goals per game in the Bundesliga last season and bagged exactly three in three of their last seven league games, including the 3-3 draw at Leipzig in May. The summer departures of Benjamin Sesko and Yussuf Poulsen will probably hurt Leipzig’s chances of keeping pace in a possible 3-1 defeat.

Michael Olise To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Michael Olise registered 12 goals in his first season with Bayern and looks poised to potentially improve on that this term. The French winger fired off six shots against Stuttgart last week and had the second-highest expected goals of any Bayern player.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Predictions

  • Bayern Munich won 14 of their 17 Bundesliga home games last season
  • Both teams scored in seven of their last 12 home league games and in seven of the last nine meetings between these clubs
  • Leipzig have scored on each of their last five visits to the Allianz Arena

Bayern out to make a statement at home

Bayern Munich side begin their Bundesliga title defence with an eye-catching clash against RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Friday. Vincent Kompany’s side ended last season in dominant fashion, reclaiming the crown with a 13-point cushion.

The Bavarians beat the Red Bulls 5-1 in the corresponding fixture last season and had the better of a 3-3 draw in Leipzig back in May. They may be a bit sharper than the visitors for this one too after warming up for it by lifting the Super Cup last weekend with a 2-1 win over Stuttgart.

Despite injuries to key players like Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, Bayern’s attacking depth should see them get plenty of goals. Harry Kane, scorer of 26 Bundesliga goals last term, got off the mark against Stuttgart by converting his only chance. New signing Luis Diaz also scored while Leon Goretzka and Michael Olise missed multiple chances.

Leipzig’s travel sickness problems

Kompany’s high-pressing style has already taken root, and Bayern look primed to lay down an early marker. Leipzig endured a disappointing end to last season, missing out on European qualification and winning just one of their final ten Bundesliga away games.

Ole Werner’s men did pick up a 4-2 cup win over Sandhausen last weekend, but their defensive frailties remain a concern. Leipzig have conceded two or more goals in four of their last six competitive fixtures.

The Red Bulls have only beaten Bayern once in their last six Bundesliga meetings, and with several debutants expected to feature, they may struggle to contain the champions. Bayern’s firepower and home form should prove decisive in the season opener.
