Blues and U’s both capable of scoring

Both teams to score is the best bet for Saturday’s Championship clash between Birmingham and Oxford at St. Andrew’s. Oxford were 3-2 losers to Hull last weekend and there should be goals again in this one.

Birmingham were promoted from League One last term at the end of a dominant season, while Oxford finished 17th in the Championship, largely thanks to their excellent home form.

Birmingham were 2-1 winners against Blackburn in their last Championship game last weekend, but Oxford are struggling, losing their first two matches.

It would be no surprise to see U’s find the net, however. They have scored at least twice in three of their last four Championship games and, having made a poor start, they will be looking to get back on track here.

Both teams have been struggling to keep clean sheets. Birmingham have gone three league games without shutting out their opponents and Oxford have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last eight Championship matches.

Birmingham have scored in 18 of their last 20 league games and both teams have scored in their last three.

The Blues may be able to edge out Oxford in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Birmingham have scored at least twice in five of their last seven league games and both of Oxford’s defeats this season came by a single goal.
