Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • City have won 12 of their last 13 games
  • The hosts have won by 2+ goals in 70% of their home league victories
  • Spurs have lost by 2+ goals in six of eight league defeats
  • City have conceded in only three of 12 home league games

Problems for Conte

After all the hype around Antonio Conte’s return to the Premier League, he doesn’t seem to be enjoying his spell at Tottenham. The former Chelsea boss has frequently grumbled following Spurs’ underwhelming transfer window, while he’s stepped that up in light of their three-game losing streak in the league.

Conte claimed that Spurs actually weakened their side in January, labelling signings Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski as players for the future. Having claimed Spurs are unable to attract star names, it’s hard to imagine morale is high ahead of a visit to the champions.

City storming towards the title

Manchester City’s relentless pursuit of silverware continued this week, as they crushed Portuguese champions Sporting 5-0 away from home. The Citizens have all but claimed their spot in the last eight, while they are coasting towards another Premier League title.

City have now won 12 of their last 13 games in all competitions, while they’ve claimed 43 points from the last 45 available in the league. Their incredible consistency should continue on Saturday, with Spurs losing six of nine clashes with the sides above them in the division.

Comfortable win for hosts

City have scored 15 times across their last four matches and they have won their last two 4-0 and 5-0. The hosts have won by at least two goals in seven of their 10 home wins this term, while they were 3-0 winner when these two met here just over a year ago.

City’s are buoyed by their impressive attacking options, with Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling both in good form. However, it’s Riyad Mahrez we’re going to single out going into this clash. The Algerian has scored in three of his four games since returning from AFCON, scoring four times. back him to trouble Spurs this weekend.

Six of Tottenham’s eight losses this term have come by at least a two-goal margin, so I think City will run away with this one. City have won their last five at home by an aggregate score of 20-4, so back them to easily brush off Spurs. I’m backing City -1, while a repeat of last season’s 3-0 win is my correct score prediction with City scoring 34 times in 12 home games, conceding in just three of those.

Man City predicted lineup: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Silva; Mahrez, Foden, Sterling

Tottenham predicted lineup: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Royal, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Reguilon; Moura, Kane, Son
