Birmingham vs QPR Predictions
Certainly the Londoners are usually worth a watch although their own fans might not necessarily agree. QPR are the division’s top goalscorers but they have still conceded more than they’ve scored and only bottom club Bristol City can match a defensive record of 20 goals conceded in 10 matches so far.
What is more worrying is that the problems at the back that have been evident for a while, seem to be getting worse rather than better. They were beaten 4-0 in their last away game at Fulham, while they conceded 3 times at home to Bolton last time out but still managed to bag all the points with a 4-3 win courtesy of a 90th minute Jay Emmanuel Thomas strike.
Birmingham have been involved in a few high scoring contests too and possess some decent attacking options of their own. With 16 goals they have the joint 4th best attack and they come into this game in good form on the back of two impressive wins away from home at Brentford and Leeds.
This has all the makings of a high scoring contest and certainly from the visitors perspective, attack very much is the best form of defence. There has been an average of 3.8 goals per game in matches involving QPR in the Championship this season and against a confident Birmingham side, goals here seem very likely again and at 17/20 there is value in backing there to be over 2.5 goals in this one.
The Blues haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league yet this term at St Andrews and against free-scoring QPR it is hard to see that record changing. However the problem for Chris Ramsey’s men is although they will create chances and could bag a couple of goals, you just can’t rely on their defence to hold onto a lead for long.
Birmingham are playing as well as they have done for several seasons and could be surprise promotion contenders if their current 4th place standing is anything to go by. If you fancy a punt with big potential returns consider backing the hosts to win 3-2 at a tasty 25/1.
