Reason For Blackburn Rovers vs Swansea City Predictions

  • Blackburn have lost just 1 of their last 9 Championship games (W4 D4).
  • Rovers have the second-highest number of home draws in the division (7/18).
  • No side has drawn more away games than Swansea this season (8/17).
  • These two sides drew both meetings in 2019.

Top-six in Their Sights

Both Blackburn and Swansea can still break into the top six in the Championship, but can either of them close in on the playoffs here? Blackburn are just four points shy, currently sitting in eighth. After a 1-0 loss at Fulham in midweek, Swansea are five points back and a place below Rovers.

With 11 games to go, it is getting to the now or never stage for these two surprise promotion candidates. They both need to push for a run of victories if they’re to sneak in ahead of Preston, but could they both suffer a setback this weekend given their history of draws?

Rovers Run

Blackburn continued a fine unbeaten run in midweek, as they drew 0-0 with Stoke. They are now four games without a loss, while they’ve suffered just one defeat in nine. That run has brought Rovers four victories and four more draws. That has proven to be the springboard for their playoff push, which comes thanks to some solid results at Ewood Park.

The hosts have lost only three times at this ground, giving them one of the leading home records in the division. However, they have produced plenty of draws in the Championship so far. They’ve drawn 10 of their 35 games in the second tier, with seven of those coming at home. That’s the second-highest number of home draws in the division.

Swans’ Hopes Fading

The visitors have seen their chances of making the top six fade in recent weeks, as they’ve won just once in their last seven matches. That’s left them struggling to catch Preston, while they’ve failed to win any of their last seven away trips. That downturn on the road has come despite Swansea’s good overall away record – which is the seventh-best in the division.

That’s because the Swans have lost just four of their 17 away trips, drawing eight times on the road. That’s the joint-highest number of away draws in the Championship. So far they’ve lost three clashes with the current top five, but with sides from sixth down their record is W4 D8 L1. As a result, we’re backing them to claim a point this weekend, having seen these two draw their last two meetings.

These two shared a 1-1 draw earlier this season, a result which has landed on three occasions for Blackburn at home and Swansea away. Neither side have seen that many high-scoring clashes this term, so we are backing them to split the points with another 1-1 draw this weekend.
