Both Teams To Score - No

Reason for tip

Both teams have not scored in four of Blackpool’s last six Championship home games or in six of Swansea’s last ten away league contests. Only three Championship clubs had a smaller percentage of their home games see both teams score in 2021-22 than the Seasiders.

Blackpool 1-0

Reason for tip

Blackpool won last season’s corresponding fixture 1-0 back in March and little has changed about their approach this season under new boss Michael Appleton. Swansea are still struggling to score this term with neither of their main strikers – Michael Obafemi and Joel Piroe – having found the back of the net yet.

Blackpool vs Swansea City Predictions

  • Both teams have not scored in four of Blackpool’s last six Championship home games.
  • Both teams have not scored in six of Swansea’s last ten away league contests.
  • Blackpool won last season’s corresponding fixture 1-0 back in March.

Swans seeing no end product from laboured build-up

Swansea are still to find their cutting edge as they travel to Blackpool to take on a team used to winning at home.

Russell Martin’s side are one of the least direct teams in the division and some of their critics can point to that approach having led to little end product so far this season.  The Swans were held to an opening-weekend 1-1 draw by newly-promoted Rotherham before coming up blank in a 3-0 home reverse to Blackburn Rovers last weekend.

The manner of that defeat will be a concern as Rovers sat in and picked them off on the break, although Blackpool are unlikely to take the same approach on Saturday. The Seasiders struck early and dominated the first half of their 1-0 home win over Reading, but were outplayed by Stoke on their next assignment in the Potteries.

Blackpool back in the same groove as last season

It’s early days, but nothing about these two results suggests Blackpool are doing anything differently under new boss Michael Appleton than they did under Neil Critchley, who took them to a respectable mid-table finish last term.

Only three Championship clubs had a smaller percentage of their home games see both teams score in 2021-22 and Blackpool’s opening result at Bloomfield Road offers further encouragement to take that option here. Both teams have not bagged in six of Swansea’s last ten away league trips too.

Given Blackpool have won six of their last ten at home while Swansea are still struggling to find the back of the net this term, the best correct score play would seem to be a repeat of last season’s 1-0 victory for the Seasiders.
