Boca Juniors vs Racing Club Predictions
Sunday’s Superliga Argentina action sees Boca Juniors doing battle with Racing Club at La Bombonera. The visitors will be looking to take advantage of the hosts’ distraction to take all 3 points home with them.
Looking at domestic affairs only, Boca are in more than decent shape. Coming into the season amongst the favourites to win the Superliga and desperate to regain their crown, Gustavo Alfaro’s men have thus far met all expectations as far as league action is concerned and currently sit top of the table with 21 points from 9 games.
However, all is not well in the Boca camp, with the team on the brink of Copa Libertadores heartbreak to arch rivals River Plate once again, having already lost the final of said competition to them last season. Indeed, 2-0 going into Wednesday’s semi final second leg clash between the two, Boca have huge work to do as regards turning tie around and for that reason, Sunday’s clash is nothing more than a distraction for them and a reserve team should be fielded.
Meanwhile, under the watch of Eduardo Coudet, Racing have transformed into an extremely powerful force which saw them run out league champions last season. Playing an open and attacking brand of football, La Academia are easy on the eye and are expected to be part of the title mix once again this campaign.
The visitors didn’t make a great start and for that reason find themselves down in 7th place but recent performance give every reason for confidence to be high coming into this game. Indeed, the side have now won 4 of their last 5 matches and having scored an average of 2 goals a game over said fixtures, they won’t be making this short trip in apprehensive state.
Ultimately, with both teams at full strength and fully focused, you’d probably fancy Boca to edge this fixture on home soil but the fact they have such a big game in midweek completely changes the complexion of the match. Boca will be severely under strength and with Racing in top form, they seem the more likely winners.
As such, backing Racing on the Draw No Bet line looks a good value way of playing as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. Boca have won just 2 of their last 6 fixtures preceding a Libertadores match and whilst at worst Racing shouldn’t lose, we can see them running out 2-1 winners.
