Bochum to Win

Reason for tip

Cologne have lost seven of their ten matches in the Bundesliga this season, leaving them rooted to the foot of the table, and they could be in for another setback when they face Bochum at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.

Bochum 2-1

Reason for tip

Cologne have conceded on average 2.2 goals per game in the Bundesliga this season and with that in mind, Bochum look worth a bet to win this 2-1.

Bochum vs Cologne Predictions

  • Cologne have lost seven of their ten Bundesliga matches this term
  • Bochum have lost just one of their last four league assignments
  • Cologne are conceding on average 2.2 goals per game in the league

Bochum target back-to-back wins

Lowly Bochum dug deep to pick up their first Bundesliga victory of the season away to Darmstadt last time out and they can make it back-to-back wins when they host Cologne on Saturday.

Bochum established a 2-1 lead over Darmstadt by the 54th minute last Friday and held on with their opponents having been reduced to ten men with just over 20 minutes remaining.

It was a disciplined performance from a Bochum side who have been lacklustre but not hopeless this season and they can keep climbing the table with victory over the Billy Goats.

That may have been Bochum’s first league win of the season but they took points off Leipzig and Mainz in October, either side of a tight 2-1 loss to Freiburg.

They have tightened up since September’s 7-0 mauling by Bayern Munich and are a solid bet to beat Cologne, who are rooted to the foot of the table.

Billy Goats in early mix for relegation

Cologne also have just one league win to their name but they have picked up only two draws, having lost their other seven assignments.

That leaves them on only five points from ten games and they have struggled going forwards, netting only eight times.

Their confidence is through the floor right now, as evidenced by their 3-2 loss to FC Kaiserslautern in the German Cup at the end of October.

A Bochum win is the way to go but do not expect a barnstorming display.

Two of Bochum’s last three games have been settled by 2-1 scorelines and that could be the way to play it in the correct score market at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.
