Bologna 2-1

Reason for tip

Thiago Motta’s men have conceded in eight of their 11 home games to date, but rarely more than once, and have only once failed to score in front of their own fans. A similar outcome to the 2-1 Bologna win in Monza earlier this season could well be on the cards.

Bologna look for Euro boost against ambitious Monza

Two clubs with lingering European ambitions clash at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Sunday when Bologna host Monza in Serie A. Sitting nine and 12 points off sixth place at this stage of the season, it still looks a tough ask for either to bridge the gap, but AC Milan’s collapse offers encouragement.

Monza entered the Italian top flight for the first time this season, so their goal is probably still to secure their safety.  Recent results have not shown any lack of ambition, however, as Raffaele Palladino’s men have been on a seven-game unbeaten run.

That includes back-to-back away wins at lowly Cremonese and mid-table Juventus, so a trip to a Bologna side that currently sit just above the Old Lady in the table should hold no fears for them.

Both teams can score at Dall’Ara

I Rossoblu have won their last two games to extend their unbeaten run to four and a clash of two equally-matched sides as this might well finish in a draw. However, the safer bet here is to back both teams to score, which tends to happen in Bologna home games.

Thiago Motta’s men have conceded in eight of their 11 home games to date, but rarely more than once, and have only once failed to score in front of their loyal supporters. Both teams had scored by the hour mark when these two sides met in Monza earlier this season and a similar outcome to that 2-1 Bologna win could well be on the cards.
