      Bolton vs Leeds Predictions

This is a big game for both clubs for different reasons. Leeds are locked in mid-table in the Championship with little hope of gatecrashing the play-offs but they don’t really look like getting sucked into a relegation battle. Therefore an FA Cup run could really add some excitement to the end of their season and they are sure to take a large following and full strength side with them to Bolton.

From a footballing point of view Bolton probably don’t need a cup distraction given they are in a battle to beat the drop from the Championship. They have been propping up the table for most of the season but are still only 5 points off safety. However such is their dire financial situation, a cup run means more income and winning this tie and drawing a big name in the last 16 would be a major boost.

It is a sad state of affairs for Bolton that they must now think that way given their recent long stay in the lucrative top flight but they have had some rare moments to enjoy over the past fortnight. Having won just twice in 29 matches all season, they won twice in 4 days by beating non-league Eastleigh 3-2 in their FA Cup 3rd Round replay prior to a 3-1 league win at home to fellow strugglers MK Dons.

However Leeds will provide them with a much sterner test than both those clubs and they’ve only lost 2 of their last 12 matches. They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win over Bristol City and a very solid 1-1 draw at Brentford in midweek. Given they have 16 more points than Bolton in the league, they’ll be confident ahead of this game and their form suggests that backing Leeds at 5/6 in the ‘draw no bet’ market is the smarter move here.

Both teams have scored in 4 of the last 5 matches involving Bolton and that could be the case here too so if you’re looking for a correct score bet, consider backing Leeds to win 2-1 at 9/1.
