- Wigan are yet to keep a clean sheet in League One.
- Wanderers have conceded just one goal, scoring 10 themselves.
Wanderers looking to maintain perfect start
Bolton fell short in the play-offs last season but look set to launch another promotion push this term after winning their opening three League One games.
Ian Evatt’s men have four wins from as many games across all competitions but they face their biggest test so far on Saturday as relegated Wigan make the short trip to the Toughsheet Stadium.
The Latics have seven points on the board, but head into the game at the foot of the standings after being hit with an eight point deduction before the campaign began.
Bolton can claim bragging rights
Wigan may well be involved in the promotion fight themselves come the end of the campaign having nearly wiped out their points deduction after just three rounds of fixtures.
However, the Latics have shown a few defensive frailties and they’ve not managed a clean sheet in the league, conceding a second half equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Carlisle in their last game.
Bolton will be without key forward Dion Charles for this game and manager Ian Evatt will have to watch from the stands after they were dismissed in the 3-1 win over Fleetwood last time out, but Wanderers still have the quality to claim the spoils here.
Defensive strength key for hosts
Bolton’s new keeper Nathan Baxter has impressed since his arrival and Evatt’s men boast a mean defence, having conceded just once so far – and they shipped that goal after being reduced to 10 men.
In contrast, Wigan are yet to keep a shut-out and the home side’s strength at the back may well prove decisive in this early kick off.
A 2-0 win for Bolton looks a reasonable correct score prediction as Wanderers have hit three goals in all three of their games so far but Wgan are potentially the best team they will have come up against so far.
Victor Adeboyejo hit a hat-trick in the win over Fleetwood to take his tally for the season to four goals, and he stands out as a contender for an anytime goal in the absence of Charles for Bolton.
