Borussia Monchengladbach Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

No side has defeated Bayern Munich more often than Gladbach and whilst it’s a longshot, the odds represent significant value against a Bayern Munich side returning from a midweek trip to Paris.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Gladbach are unbeaten in five of the last six home H2Hs, although they’ve kept just one clean sheet therein, this could be another end-to-end game if they are to get anything from it.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Borussia Monchengladbach are unbeaten in five of the last six home H2Hs.
  • Bayern Munich faced a tough trip to Paris in midweek.
  • No side has beaten Bayern Munich in more Bundesliga games than Gladbach’s 27.

Gladbach to give Bayern tough time in their title defence

Borussia Monchengladbach enter this clash on the back of a 4-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Hertha Berlin, a disappointing result indeed for the underachieving Foals.

Even so, history dictates that they won’t mind facing the Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich, as they’ve defeated them more than any other side in Bundesliga history (W27, D31, L51).

Gladbach have a great recent record against Bayern Munich, too, especially on home soil. They have avoided defeat in five of their last six at home to the reigning champions and we can see them doing the same again on Friday.

Finding value against the expected outcome

Bayern Munich are undoubtedly rightful favourites and on a going day, they could easily blow Gladbach away. However, both their poor record against the hosts and the lack of proper preparation for this clash following their gruelling trip to Paris in midweek could see them come unstuck.

There is an added layer of spice in this edition too, as Gladbach’s former keeper, Yann Sommer, returns to Borussia-Park for the first time since leaving the club. The stopper made 335 competitive appearances for Gladbach, so it will be interesting to see the sort of reception he gets here.

Anything short of victory could be catastrophic for the visitors, but we’re going to go for a rather tentative play on a Gladbach or draw double chance selection. The outright win itself is a massive price at 6/1, but that gives us plenty of wiggle room to take the insurance.
