      Borussia Monchengladbach vs Sevilla Predictions

In reality this game is likely to amount to little more than a play-off to decide who finishes 3rd and 4th in the group and with Europa League football on offer to the 3rd place side, there is plenty of incentive for both sides here.

Borussia have already been eliminated from the Champions League with just 2 points coming from their opening 4 group fixtures but they did manage to avoid defeat twice against Juventus. Sevilla are only 1 point better off after losing twice against Man City but can still qualify. They need to win both their remaining games and hope that Juventus fail to beat the English club in the other group game on Wednesday.

Gladbach have recovered from a nightmare opening to the season but it’s come too late to save their Champions League hopes. They were beaten 3-0 at Sevilla on match-day one but will provide the Spaniards with a much tougher test here. They are unbeaten in 9 matches in all competitions and moved up to 5th in the Bundesliga by beating Hannover on Saturday.

By contrast Sevilla have lost 3 of their last 4 games and went down to a 2-0 defeat at Real Sociedad at the weekend and slipped into the bottom half of La Liga as a result. Although they have beaten both Barcelona and Real Madrid at home, they are yet to win on the road this term and have lost 5 of their last 6 matches away from Seville.

This should be open given both sides will be looking for the win. Sevilla need 3 points to have a chance of staying in the competition, while Borussia need them to have a realistic chance of finishing 3rd and given both sides are naturally quite attacking we should see a few goals.

There have been 3 or more goals in 6 of Borussia’s 9 home matches this season, while of 5 of Sevilla’s last 6 matches have seen 3 or more goals scored. Therefore consider backing there to be over 2.5 goals in this one at 4/5.

The away form of Sevilla is a real concern though and with the Germans playing well right now, they might just edge this and a 2-1 home win looks appealing at 17/2.
