Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Porto have scored in 11 consecutive games but have managed just one clean sheet in their last three, while Braga have only failed to score in one of their last 11. This may not be a high-scoring final but both of these teams have enough quality in attack to find a way through regardless.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Porto only conceded 0.6 goals-per-game in the Portuguese top flight and Braga also had an incredible defensive record, conceding just 0.9 goals-per-game ion average. Braga have a good record against Porto and have lost just two of their last seven meetings, and both of those losses came as the away side. This final may well require additional time and a 1-1 draw appeals.

Braga’s Ricardo Horta can make his mark in the cup final after hitting 14 goals in 30 league games, including three in his last five appearances.

Porto and Braga bid for Taca de Portugal glory

Braga have enjoyed a fantastic season as they finished third in Portugal’s top tier and now have a chance to claim some silverware as they take on big guns Porto in the Taca de Portugal final on Sunday.

However, Porto are the defending champions and head into the game in fine form with 10 wins in their last 11 games.

These sides played out a 0-0 draw when they last met in the league at the Estádio Municipal de Braga in March.

I’m expecting a bit more action in this final meeting on neutral territory and both teams to score appeals as the main bet.

Braga should be up for the cup

Braga were perhaps unlucky not to claim all three points in that last meeting in the league and they should be good for at least a goal on Sunday.

Os Arcebispos have scored in 10 of their last 11 games and have managed a goal against Porto this season, having lost their trip to the Estádio do Dragão 4-1.

That may have been a big loss but Braga do have a reasonable record against Porto with two wins and three draws in their last seven meetings, and both of their losses in that run came as the away side.

Porto are flying with 10 wins in their last 11 games so they should be expected to score, but they have conceded in two of their last three games and both teams scored in their tie with Famalicão in the previous round of this competition – where they had to come through extra time to win after defeat in the second leg.

Extra time could be required

Given Braga’s strong record against Porto there is a chance 90 minutes may not be enough to decide this tie and 1-1 looks a reasonable correct score prediction – as Braga conceded just 0.9 goals-per-game in the league and and Porto conceded just 22 goals in their 34 games.

Braga’s Ricardo Horta appeals as a candidate for a goal at anytime as he managed 14 goals in 30 league games, including three in his last five appearances.
