Robins to recover from Leeds thrashing

Bristol City were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat to leaders Leeds in their last Championship game, but Saturday’s home match against Preston looks more winnable. Back City to beat Paul Heckingbottom’s side at Ashton Gate and book a spot in the play-offs, while at the same time putting the visitors under enormous pressure in their bid to beat the drop.

City were comprehensively beaten 4-0 by Leeds on Monday, having seen little of the ball with only 25.7% possession. Leeds created enough chances to have won by an even wider margin and the result was no surprise, with them priced at 8/13 to win the game.

Bristol City are fifth in the Championship, 15 places and 18 points above Preston, with 17 wins, 16 draws and 12 losses this season. The visitors have ten wins, 19 draws and 16 defeats.

Bristol City are in excellent form at home, having won ten of their last 12 Championship games at Ashton Gate. In contrast, Preston have lost six of their last eight on the road.

Bristol City to get a 2-0 home win looks a decent option for correct-score bettors. Five of their 17 Championship successes this season have been by two goals, while seven of Preston’s 16 losses have been the same way.
