Roma to Win

Reason for tip

Lecce have lost three of their last four Serie A home games and have simply stopped scoring. Meanwhile, there is a real feeling that Roma are going places again after they won seven of their last nine league games since Daniele De Rossi took charge. Roma have won three of their last four away league contests too.

Roma 1-0

Reason for tip

Lecce have failed to score in four of their last six league games, including each of their last two at home. The two goals they have scored in that run have both been own goals and their top scorer is on a seven-game scoring drought. Roma do not keep many away clean sheets, but this is a great chance to get one and they can secure a professional 1-0 road win.

Giallorossi gunning for fifth place

Roma can do their Champions League hopes the power of good by collecting another three points at Lecce on Easter Monday.

The Giallorossi occupy fifth place and that holding that position should guarantee Daniel De Rossi’s side entry to Europe’s premier club competition no matter how they fare in the Europa League.

The team have clearly been lifted by De Rossi’s promotion to coach in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s departure as a run of seven wins, a draw and only one defeat – to leaders Inter – reflects.  The Italian tactician has been able to achieve those results without last season’s leading scorer at his disposal, but Tammy Abraham is expected to return to the squad at Lecce after nine months out.

No Lecce player has scored in the last six

There is a general buzz around the club at the moment and that should count for quite a bit when going up against a team in such poor form as Lecce. The Wolves are on course to better their 16th-placed finish of last season, but things are becoming a major struggle for Luca Gotti’s side now

Lecce have lost nine of their last 13 Serie A games and find themselves only four points clear of the drop zone, having been much more comfortable at Christmas. Top scorer Nikola Krstovic is in the middle of a seven-game scoring drought and it shows.

They have scored only two goals in their last six matches and both of those were scored by opposition players, so it could be worth taking Roma to win to nil. But the odds of an away victory are good enough to side with just in case.
