Clarets to do their part at Turf Moor

Burnley look set to continue their winning streak when Millwall visit Turf Moor on Saturday and the Clarets can at least put pressure on Leeds in the title race by keeping up their end of the bargain. 

The visitors have lost three times in their last four away games in the Championship and don’t look up to the task of securing anything as they bid to make the play-offs.

Burnley are second in the Championship, five places and 31 points above seventh-placed Millwall, having won 27 of their 45 games this season.

They were 5-0 winners against QPR in their last Championship game, keeping up their recent winning trend. This was an excellent result for Burnley, who were priced as even-money favourites to win the game and triumphed with something to spare.

It would be no surprise to see Burnley score, having found the net in 13 of their last 15 league games. They have also scored at least twice in four successive Championship matches.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last 22 home games in the Championship, winning seven of the last eight. They have gone 23 games without defeat at Turf Moor.

No defence has been meaner than Burnley’s in the Championship this term, with just 15 goals against in 45 games, and they have been impressive at home, conceding just seven goals in 22 matches – an average of 0.32 goals per game.

The hosts are solid favourites. Burnley have won seven of the last eight Championship home games in which they were odds-on. Backing them as favourites this season would have resulted in a 6.14-unit profit, with 23 wins from 38 such games.

Burnley may be able to edge out Millwall in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Burnley have won their last two games at Turf Moor 2-1 and of their 27 wins this season, eight were by a 2-1 scoreline.
