Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Forest won 2-1 on their last visit to Turf Moor, but there seems little between the two sides right now with both looking to halt losing streaks. A 2-2 draw could be possible if Forest attack and defend as they did against Swansea on Wednesday. Burnley have scored exactly two goals in four of their last six home games while Forest have shipped multiple goals in each of their last three.

Burnley vs Nottingham Forest Predictions

  • At least three goals have been scored in four of Forest’s five matches this season
  • Former Burnley striker Chris Wood scored twice on his last trip to Turf Moor

Swans give Ange that sinking feeling again

Ange Postecoglou will attempt to turn Nottingham Forest’s fortunes around in a tough-looking trip to Turf Moor to face a Burnley side that have been almost good enough to take points off Manchester United and Liverpool.

The former Spurs boss has still to inject any positive momentum into his new team after Forest let a two-goal lead slip when exiting the Carabao Cup at the hands of Swansea City on Wednesday. A much-changed line-up failed to kill off the Championship side and were made to pay by two dramatic stoppage-time goals.

Tottenham’s in-game management was occasionally found lacking when the Greek-born Australian coach was in charge and it will be a concern to Forest fans to see their team throw away a 2-0 lead so early in Postecoglou’s tenure. Swansea head coach Alan Sheehan made more effective substitutions than the new Forest boss too.

Clarets keen to make amends

For Burnley, Saturday’s game is chance to halt a two-game losing streak that could have been so different had individuals not made costly misjudgments in the final minutes. Jaidon Anthony’s tug on Amad Diallo and Hannibal Mejbri’s use of an arm to block Jeremie Frimpong’s cross denied the Clarets two draws which their efforts deserved.

Scott Parker’s side look compact, organised and capable of countering quickly, traits that will give them a chance of nicking points in the Premier League as long as their key men stay fit.

Liverpool missed some chances against them at Turf Moor last Sunday but they will not be coming up against a side as talented or tactically aware as the reigning champions this weekend. Forest are on a three-game losing streak and have shipped exactly three goals in those successive losses to West Ham, Arsenal and the Swans.

Wood remains a reliable anytime option

Burnley could add to Forest’s woes at a big price, but they may need to walk before they can run after back-to-back losses, so another market is preferred. Backing at least three goals in the game could be profitable given the recent trends of both clubs while Postecoglou’s presence in the away team dugout should ensure a more open affair than had Nuno Espirito Santo remained in charge.

Postecoglou’s teams have scored at a rate of 1.9 goals per game in top-flight football while Nuno’s numbers are somewhat lower at 1.47. Both teams have shown vulnerability from set pieces this season, which could help in providing an early goal to open the game up.

Chris Wood stands out as the top pick for an anytime goalscorer after he registered 22 goals in his last 40 Premier League games. The Kiwi also bagged twice on his last trip to Burnley — one of his former clubs.
