Bury vs Hull Predictions
The Tigers have made an excellent start to 2016 and have really taken advantage of the slip-ups of some of their rivals at the top end of the Championship. Their 5 matches in January so far have resulted in 5 wins, 12 goals scored and only 1 conceded so they couldn’t come here in any better form.
Clearly promotion to the top flight is the priority for Steve Bruce and his side but they showed in the League Cup earlier in the season that they have the squad to cope with a cup run when they reached the Quarter Finals.
Bury are nestled safely in mid-table in League One and will certainly be going all out for this in what is a rare outing in the 4th Round of the FA Cup for the Greater Manchester club.
There isn’t much about their recent form that suggests they are going to cause an upset though. They have only scored 3 goals in their last 7 matches and their 3rd Round tie with Bradford was a drab affair that they won on penalties after 210 goalless minutes.
They were involved in a 0-0 draw in midweek also when they couldn’t get the better of League 1’s bottom club Crewe so it is hard to see them troubling what is an excellent Hull City defence, which has let in only 18 goals in 28 league matches this year and hasn’t been breached since New Year’s Day.
Hull are also scoring goals and even if they make changes, should have just enough to break Bury’s resistance and can be backed at 17/20 to secure a place in the 5th Round on the day.
It’s unlikely to be a goal-fest as Bury are pretty good defensively too but a 2-0 away win should be within their reach and can be backed at 7/1.
