Inter could be embroiled in a battle

Inter have already endured Serie A defeats to Udinese and Juventus this season and they may not have things all their own way on their trip to Cagliari, who have made a solid start to the campaign having collected seven points from four games.

Inter did respond with a 2-1 win at home to Sassuolo last weekend but that means that both teams have scored in their last three league games and Cagliari may cause some problems.

Cristian Chivu’s side were edged out 4-3 at Juventus in their opening away trip and, while they are unbeaten in 11 meetings with Cagliari, both teams have scored in three of their past four rivalries.

The hosts have lost only one of their six competitive games this season, which came away at leaders Napoli, and they have recorded back-to-back league wins over Parma and Lecce.

A 4-1 win at home to Frosinone in the Coppa Italia in midweek should have bolstered confidence further and suggests they can provide a stern test for an Inter side still trying to find their best form.
