Cambridge United vs Leeds Predictions

Cambridge United’s improvements continue this season, and their emphatic 4-0 thrashing of Notts County on Monday night leaves them two points inside the League Two playoff zone at the halfway point of the season.

This win made it seven wins from their last nine games in all competitions, which included a 4-0 thrashing of League One side Coventry City in the FA Cup 2nd Round back at the start of December.

At home they did endure a bit of a sticky patch in the autumn as they lost four and drew one of five games, but they have since come out the other side of that shambles and won four matches on the bounce there. They have scored 13 goals and conceded two in these four matches, so Leeds could be in for a surprisingly difficult evening on Monday.

However, Leeds aren’t in particularly bad shape either. Their 3-0 win over Rotherham United on Monday made it five games unbeaten for them, and four of those have ended in victory. Away from home it’s a little more patchy but they have still won four, drawn one, and lost two of their last seven on the road.

Defensively they aren’t quite as good on their travels though. They have conceded in eight of their last nine away days and are facing a Cambridge United side who are in excellent scoring form at the moment.

There are a couple of players on both sides of the fence who could prove a threat on Monday. Cambridge United midfielder Luke Berry has scored 11 goals so far this season and looks a high value anytime goalscorer predictions at 11/4, whilst Leeds striker Chris Wood notched another two on Monday to take his tally to 13 for the season, so he’s another choice at 6/5 to score anytime.

Obviously Leeds are being touted as the favourites here, but I think the hosts should be able to find the net at least once. They are in fantastic attacking form at home and clean sheets have been hard to come by for Leeds on the road. Cambridge United have only kept two clean sheets in their last 11 at home though, so I’m backing Both Teams to Score at 4/5 along with a 2-1 win for Leeds at 15/2 for my correct score predictions.
