Cambridge to frustrate their guests

Nine points and nine places separate these clubs in the standings but Cambridge, down in 15th, have lost just one game more (6) than Sunderland (5) have this term. The U’s have proved plucky drawing eight of their 19 fixtures so far this season, five of those ties coming at home including in three of their last four matches (1W).

They extended their unbeaten run at home to five games with a 2-2 draw against Wigan in the week and have also held Sheffield Wednesday, who are level on points with Sunderland, already this season.

Visitors hit and miss

Sunderland managed to get back to winning ways last weekend beating Ipswich 2-0 to end a three-game losing run. They followed that up with a 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury on  Tuesday as their frustrations away from home in the league continued. The Black Cats have taken just 11 points from a possible 27 as guests with just three of their 10 wins so far this season coming on the road.

Cambridge have proved their worth in their own backyard this term and I’m expecting them to take something off Sunderland here with a 1-1 draw.
