Cardiff vs Peterborough Predictions
- Cardiff have scored ten goals in their last four home meetings with Peterborough.
Bluebirds to open campaign with a bang
A hugely disappointing end to the 2024-25 season saw Cardiff relegated to League One for the first time in 22 years.
The Bluebirds recorded just nine victories in the Championship – the lowest return in the second tier – and they finished rock bottom to return to the third flight.
Peterborough, who Cardiff face at lunchtime on Saturday, also suffered a sluggish ending to their campaign in this division, but they managed to do enough in the middle of the campaign to ensure they stayed up.
However, Posh’s season will be fondly remembered for their defeat of League One champions Birmingham at Wembley to retain the EFL Trophy.
It’s the third time since 2014 that Darren Ferguson’s side have landed the big prize.
Saturday’s teams last played each other in the 2021-22 campaign and after sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw, Cardiff inflicted a heavy 4-0 defeat against Peterborough on home soil.
The Bluebirds have won four of the last five meetings between the pair at home and should be confident of continuing that strong record.
Cardiff striker Callum Robinson posted his best return of goals since the 2018-19 season with 12 and if he can start the new campaign in the way he delivered last season, then the hosts should have a good opportunity to make a winning start.
Despite a disappointing season, the Bluebirds’ home form last season was encouraging. Seven of their nine league triumphs all came at the Cardiff City Stadium and they can build on that form as they bid to return to the second division.
