Draw

Reason for tip

Cardiff have won only two of their last ten home league matches and may struggle to pick up all three pints without several key players for this game. West Brom have not won any of their last four away Championship games, but have won back-to-back home games ahead of this fixture. Additionally, the last two meetings between these clubs finished all square.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Cardiff have only conceded more than once in one of their last eight home league fixtures while Albion average 1.2 goals per away game across their last ten road trips. The last two meetings between the clubs have finished all square with one of those a 1-1.

Cardiff vs West Bromwich Albion Predictions

  • Cardiff have won only two of their last ten home league matches.
  • West Brom have not won any of their last four away Championship games.
  • The last two meetings between these clubs finished all square.

Bluebirds and Baggies may settle for a draw

The draw looks a big runner when West Brom travel to Cardiff on Wednesday looking to further their promotion claims. Carlos Corberan’s side have been grinding out wins at home, but unable to get much away from their Hawthorns stronghold since mid-January.

A run of four consecutive away defeats should come to an end when they travel to the Welsh capital this week because the Bluebirds are not in great shape at the moment.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side went down 2-0 to Preston on Saturday after a battling display, but look likely to be without captain Joe Ralls and striker Connor Wickham again through injury while defender Cedric Kipre is unable to face his parent club. At least they get first-choice keeper Ryan Allsop back from a one-game suspension, but even that may not be enough to keep the visitors at bay.

WBA were unlucky to lose at Hull

Albion were unlucky to lose 2-0 at Hull recently when they hit the woodwork and had a handful of good chances saved by the Tigers’ keeper. They also lost narrowly to Watford, who are battling alongside them for promotion, and Burnley, the class side in the division, during their current away drought.

Cardiff are nothing like any of those sides, bar maybe Hull, and the hosts may even be happy to settle for a point in the circumstances as they battle the drop.

The last two meetings between these clubs finished all square and there is no reason to suspect that this game will produce a winner either. A 1-1 draw gets our vote for correct score purposes because Cardiff have only shipped more than one goal in one of their last eight home league fixtures while Albion average 1.2 goals per away game across their last ten road trips.
