Chelsea vs Liverpool Predictions
- Chelsea are fighting for a top five finish.
- Liverpool have been confirmed as champions.
- Chelsea have won seven of their last nine at home.
Chelsea looking for top five finish
Chelsea have hit form at the right time and they have a chance to beat the champions on Sunday when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge.
The visitors wrapped up the league title last time out with a 5-1 demolition of Spurs and have little left to play for, whereas Chelsea are looking to make sure they at least hold on to fifth place.
The Blues did have a European trip to Djurgarden on Thursday but boss Enzo Maresca rotated heavily for that Conference League tie, and there shouldn’t be any fatigue issues after that 4-1 win in Sweden.
Home win the standout bet
At any other point in the season Liverpool would probably be expected to win here but the Reds now have nothing to play for after their title confirmation.
As such, this could be the ideal time for Chelsea to take on the Merseyside outfit and their home form has been strong for some time now, with seven wins in their last nine games at Stamford Bridge across all competitions (D1, L1).
Chelsea are winless in 10 against Liverpool in a run stretching back to 2021 and that is a slight concern. However, they’ve also only lost two of those games in normal time and as they are the only team with something to fight for here they should be able to grind out a win.
Both teams can strike
Liverpool have scored in six consecutive fixtures and clean sheets have been an issue for Chelsea, with just one shut-out in their last five games. The Blues’ last four league wins have all come via one-goal margins so a 2-1 home win has some appeal in the correct score market.
Nicolas Jackson initially struggled after returning from a stint on the sidelines as he went five games without a goal, putting in a couple of abject displays, but the Senegalese forward looks to be working his way back to form.
Jackson came off the bench and scored twice at Djurgaden and now has three goals in his last two games, and he can continue his resurgence with a goal against Liverpool on Sunday.
