Cheltenham vs Barnet Predictions

There isn’t much Christmas cheer at Whaddon Road at the moment as Cheltenham occupy one of the relegation spots and we are backing their holiday mood to worsen when they host Barnet on Boxing Day. Our tip is for the visitors to come away with all three points but with a bit of a safety net on the ‘Draw – No Bet’ option, which is available at 6/4 with bet365.

For our correct score tip we are backing Barnet to be decisive and to go back with a 3-1 away win, which is priced at an attractive 25/1 with the same site.

Cheltenham posted a much needed three points when they last played, a result which was their first win in seven league matches, but that result came against a massively out of form Morecambe side so the Boxing Day clash represents an entirely different proposition.

Barnet are one of the form sides of the division and even though their last result saw them suffer defeat against Stevenage, they have shown the type of form and consistency to warrant their current play-off place. The Bees also have a good away record and average 1.6 points per game.

It’s hard to make a case for the hosts in this fixture, they have a modest scoring record and a poor defensive one. There is also nothing in the head to head, although they come out on top the margins are too small to suggest they have a hoodoo over the visitors.

The reason why we have aired on the side of caution with the ‘Draw – No Bet’ option is that the last results of each team could be enough to spark something from either side. Last weeks win for Cheltenham could be the type of result they need to get themselves out of trouble and, while we don’t think it’s likely, defeat last week for Barnet could be an indication that they are about to slide down the table.
