      Cheltenham vs Wrexham Predictions

It will be two games in three days for these clubs so fitness could be a factor but both will be delighted with how they have started the season and come into this game on the back of convincing wins.

Wrexham beat Halifax 3-1 on Saturday while Cheltenham were impressive 3-0 winners at Torquay and they are both looking very threatening in front of goal which suggests we will see a few goals here.

The visitors are 2nd in the table and have won 5 in a row since their opening day defeat. Cheltenham have responded to the disappointment of relegation well and are unbeaten so far with 3 wins and 3 draws.

However with Forest Green currently setting the pace with a 100% record at the top, both clubs will be gunning for 3 points here as automatic promotion really is the number one objective for both managers this season.

The pressure will be on Cheltenham as the home side to take the game to their opponents but Wrexham are the top scorers in the division and are likely to play to their strengths. Therefore certainly goals are likely and there is value at 9/10 in backing there to be 3 or more in the game.

As for the winner it is slightly harder to call but this is definitely Wrexham’s toughest game yet so we may get a better idea about their defensive qualities. 4 of their 5 wins have been at home while their only away win was at struggling Kidderminster.

The six clubs they have played so far are all currently in the bottom half so there may be something to the idea that Wrexham have just had an easy run of games and aren’t quite as good as 2nd place and 5 wins in a row suggests.

Cheltenham look like they are getting over the despair that relegation from the football league brings and their performance on Saturday was outstanding when you consider they were reduced to 10 men in just the 8th minute when George McLennan saw red. Despite playing with a man disadvantage for almost the entire game, they cruised to a 3-0 win away from home against another side with recent league experience.

Therefore confidence will be high for this one and with home advantage Cheltenham might just nick it. Both teams are likely to score and backing Town to secure a 2-1 win at 8/1 offers healthy returns.
