      Reason for tip

Both of these teams are in excellent form and while they would both wish to boost their position in what is a packed promotion picture, they may have to settle for a share of the spoils.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

With both teams having scored in all but three of Chesterfield’s last 14 games and the Magpies being reliable scorers, a 1-1 draw could prove a profitable correct-score play.

      Chesterfield vs Notts County Predictions

      • Notts County have failed to score in just two of their 21 League Two matches this season.
      • Chesterfield have lost one of their last ten league games.
      • Both teams have scored in 11 of the Spireites’ last 14 league outings.

Spireites in the thick of hot promotion race

Both Chesterfield and Notts County will be hoping to mount strong League Two promotion challenges in 2026 after positioning themselves handily and they look set for an intriguing Boxing Day showdown.

Second-placed Swindon are the only team to have beaten the Spireites in their last ten league games, but they have been held to draws in five of their last nine outings and we could see another stalemate when they entertain the Magpies.

Notts should be encouraged by the fact their hosts have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine home matches, and County could earn a point from their short trip over the county border into Derbyshire.

County have been strong on the road

The visitors earned a goalless draw at home to leaders Walsall last time out, but that was only the second occasion in 21 league games that they have failed to find the net, so we can expect them to be positive.

That commendable result followed three straight wins against Bristol Rovers, MK Dons and Grimsby and they are in the thick of the promotion chase having won four and drawn one of their last five matches on the road.

Facing a team with a decent home record presents further challenges, however, so a draw looks a likely result with 1-1 recommended for those looking for a correct-score interest.
