Chile vs Haiti Predictions
Chile’s form hasn’t been the best since the latter stages of last year, with the highlight of their last six internationals being a 1-0 win over Mexico. Haiti actually head into Friday’s friendly as the form favourites, after they picked up four wins and suffered two defeats from their last six matches. However, the best team Haiti have played during that run of six matches are El Salvador, whom they lost two twice 1-0.
Chile were held to a draw in their last international match away at USA, where Pulisic handed the hosts a fourth minute lead only to see Chile equalise in the ninth minute through Opazo. The visitors had 67% of the overall possession and created more goal scoring opportunities, but we’re unable to score again and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Haiti were outplayed for large parts of their friendly in Washington against El Salvador on Sunday, where a seventy-sixth minute effort from Rugamas who the game for their opponents.
Chile might not be the side that won back to back Copa Americas in 2015 and 2016, but their record against Haiti and the performances of both teams over their last six matches, suggests Chile will win on Friday and keep a clean sheet. Chile have won two of their three matches against Haiti, and have kept clean sheets in each of their previous three matches between the pair. Chile won their last home game 4-1 against Honduras, while Haiti have lost their last two away games 1-0, both against El Salvador. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Haiti’s last four matches, which is why we’re backing a 2-0 win for Chile on Friday.
Eduardo Vargas, Alexis Sánchez, and Arturo Vidal provide experience and goals to the Chile side, while four of their defenders have over a century of caps each. St Mirren forward Duckens Nazon has scored sixteen goals in twenty-six caps for Haiti and provides his teams most likely source of goals on Friday. We’re confident that Chile will win to nil on Friday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-0. Chile are the big favourites and have an unbeaten record against Haiti, but wont want to pick up any injuries ahead of the Copa America which is why we have gone with a more conservative scoreline of 2-0.
