Club Brugge vs Manchester City Predictions

  • There have been under 2.5 goals scored in three of City’s last four games and in their two most recent wins.
  • There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Club Brugge’s last three home games, including a 1-1 draw with PSG.
  • Kevin de Bruyne has scored in each of his last two games for Man City.

Brugge won’t roll over for City

Manchester City need to get their Champions League bid back on track after a disappointing defeat at Paris Saint-Germain last time out and they will fancy their chances of taking all three points at Club Brugge.

Brugge have made a solid start to their own European campaign with four points from two games and they currently sit one point ahead of City in second spot in the Group A table.

City will again be without forward Ferran Torres for Tuesday’s game as he faces around three months on the sidelines with a fractured foot. The hosts have a few injury issues with defender Matej Mitrovic sidelined and summer loan signing Ruben Providence still waiting for his debut as he continues to recover from an ankle issue.

Goals could be at a premium in Belgium

City should have the quality to win this game and they will dominate for large periods, but they have struggled to finish their chances recently and we could be in for a low scoring game in midweek.

The Premier League champions made an awesome start to the season as they scored 17 goals in a four game period after losing the Community Shield final to Leicester but the goals have dried up since. City did score six goals against Wycombe in the League Cup but over the course of their last four Premier League games they have managed just five goals in total and also drew a blank in Paris in their last Champions League assignment.

Brugge have proven to be a tough side to break down and they managed to hold PSG to a 1-1 draw at home in this competition. The Belgian outfit also won 2-1 at RB Leipzig and have two clean sheets in their last four home games and have conceded just four goals across their last seven fixtures overall.

City should be able to create chances but whether or not they are able to put them away is a different matter and although I am expecting a win for the visitors it may not be by a huge margin and under 2.5 goals is the main bet for this fixture. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in three of City’s last four games and in their two most recent wins.

De Bruyne holds the key for City

City may be lacking an out-and-out goalscorer but midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has taken on more attacking responsibility and goes into Tuesday’s game after scoring in each of his last two appearances. The Belgian international hit City’s second in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Burnley after scoring in the draw with Liverpool prior to the international break.

A De Bruyne goal at anytime looks a good option in this fixture, while a 2-0 win for City is the pick in the correct score market as Pep Guardiola’s men have three clean sheets in their last six games and have scored exactly two goals in each of their last two fixtures.
