      Coventry vs Ipswich Predictions

      • Coventry have now avoided defeat in each of their last six matches in League 1.
      • Wycombe are the only League 1 team to have accumulated more home points than Coventry this term.
      • Ipswich currently rank as League 1’s best away team in terms of points accumulated.
      • No team has registered more travelling shots on target than Ipswich in League 1 this season.

Temporary home not a problem for Sky Blues

Despite being without a home of their own, Coventry are enjoying an excellent campaign. They built a solid platform last season and now Mark Robins’ men, who currently occupy 5th place, are serious top-six contenders.

Coventry have been good in many areas this term; they’re tough to beat, have a great habit of keeping themselves in games, while they’ve delivered the goods when it has mattered most on several occasions. However, nothing has impressed more than the way in which the Sky Blues have taken to life at their adopted home. Robins’ men have won seven, drawn two and lost one at St. Andrew’s, scoring 14 and conceding seven in the process. Only league leaders Wycombe have claimed more home points than Coventry this term.

Saturday’s hosts have also done an excellent job of restricting teams at home, conceding an average of just 2.2 shots on target. Such an average can be bettered by only two of the other 22 teams in the division.

      Ipswich flying on the road

While Coventry have done well at home, Ipswich have made light work of getting the job done away from home. In fact, somewhat strangely, the title challengers have taken considerably more points on the road than they have at Portman Road. They’ve won seven, drawn one and lost one of their nine travelling matches. Unsurprisingly, no team in League 1 has taken more away points than the Tractor Boys, while no team has a better away goal difference either.

Hosts edge it at the prices

As one of the best home performers takes on the best travelling performer, this is a game that could go either way. In truth, it’s not the most exciting betting prospect, though from a price point of view, those looking to get involved could do worse than a home win. Ipswich have been very good on the road, though as Accrington proved not that long ago, they’re not infallible. Coventry, given very little away and who ought to relish facing an Ipswich side that is likely to get forward, have been solid at St. Andrew’s, where they’ve already beaten strong teams such as Blackpool and Fleetwood, the former of which recently held Ipswich to a draw.

Frankly, Coventry, as the hosts, deserve a bit more respect in the betting, so a small play on the home win offers punters a slither of value.
