Goals on the cards in Coventry

Coventry played their part in an eight-goal FA Cup thriller last weekend and another high-scoring affair is expected in the M69 derby on Saturday.

The Sky Blues have seen at least three goals in four of their last five competitive games and come up against rivals Leicester, who top the Championship table and harbour the best attacking record in the division.

The Foxes were also involved in a goalfest last time out as they beat Millwall 3-2 and, while they still hold the Championship’s best defensive record, they have been leaking goals consistently recently.

The result is that seven of their last nine matches have featured at least three goals, making over 2.5 goals the pick of the bunch on Saturday lunchtime.

Leicester, who sit ten points clear at the top of the table and have taken 26 points from the last 30 available, should be able to end the resurgence of their rivals on Saturday. They beat Coventry 2-1 on the opening day of the season and have conceded exactly once in seven of their last nine league away games, so a repeat of that scoreline appeals.

Stephy Mavididi looks a solid choice in the anytime goalscorer market, too. The former Montpellier man has been in fine form over the last month or so, scoring six goals in his last seven games to put him top of the Foxes’ scoring charts, so back him to bag in Coventry.
