Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

AZ have only failed to score in one of their 20 games across all competitions this season and they head to London in form with five straight wins. The visitors look capable of getting on the scoresheet but Crystal Palace have managed back-to-back wins ahead of this European clash and it is hard to see them drawing a blank on home soil.

Crystal Palace 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams are expected to score, and with home advantage Palace should be able to pick up a win., The Eagles have hit some form with wins over Liverpool and Brentford and they can edge what could be a tight game 2-1.

Jean Philippe Mateta To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jean-Philippe Mateta has started both of Palace’s Conference League games and should be involved from the off on Thursday. Mateta has six goals in 10 Premier League games this season and ended a three-match goal drought against Brentford last time out, he can follow that up with a European goal on Thursday.

Crystal Palace vs AZ Alkmaar Predictions

  • AZ Alkmaar have scored in 19 of their 20 games this season.
  • Palace have scored in eight of their last 10 games.
  • Both teams have scored in four of the Eagles last seven home games.

Both teams to score the starting point at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace were given a bit of a wakeup call in the last round of Conference League fixtures as they went down 1-0 at home to AEK Larnaca and they will be keen to respond when AZ Alkmaar visit Selhurst Park on Thursday.

AZ have also suffered a chastening loss to AEK in this competition as they went down 4-0 in Cyprus. That result proved to be a bit of a turning point for the Dutch side, however, as they have won all five of their games since that loss.

Palace are the clear favourites but with AZ in form the best bet could be backing goals at both ends, rather than focusing on a result. The defeat in Cyprus is the only game this season in which AZ have failed to score, while Palace have scored in six of their eight home games across all competitions and in eight of their last 10 overall.

AZ may be in form, but Palace appear to have turned a bit of a corner themselves after beating Liverpool in the EFL Cup last week and then seeing off Brentford in the league at the weekend. Palace have enough quality to grind out a win over the Dutch outfit and a 2-1 home victory is the correct score prediction.

Jean-Philippe Mateta has started both of Palace’s Conference League games and should be involved from the off on Thursday. The Frenchman has six goals in 10 Premier League games this season and ended a three-match goal drought against Brentford last time out, so he looks a contender for an anytime effort against AZ.
