Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Palace have conceded in 10 of their last 12 home league games
- Forest have seen BTTS land in six of their last seven away trips
- The visitors have conceded in their last five games, shipping two goals on three occasions
Can Forest find their form?
Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 loss to Brentford on Thursday was their fourth defeat in five, leaving them at risk of their season falling apart. A run to the last four of the FA Cup didn’t help their rhythm, especially after last weekend’s loss to Manchester City at Wembley.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side went into the weekend in sixth place, leaving them outside the Champions League spot. They’re going to need a strong finish in their final four matches to secure a place in Europe’s top competition, starting with Monday’s visit to a rising Palace outfit.
How will Eagles fare?
Palace are repeating last season’s late flourish, when Oliver Glasner’s arrival sparked an incredible finish to the campaign. Last weekend’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the FA Cup was a huge moment for the club, but they’ve struggled to put away top sides at Selhurst Park.
The hosts have won five of their 17 home clashes this term, while they have just two wins to their name against sides above 15th. They have struggled defensively, keeping just two clean sheets across their previous 10 at home. That could be seen to favour the visitors, but Forest have their own defensive concerns to address.
Goals are the way to go
Nottingham Forest have failed to keep a clean sheet across their last five matches, which has been a key part of their struggles. Their success this term was built on a solid foundation, but they head into Monday’s clash having seen both teams score in six of their last seven away trips.
Forest’s defensive issues could see them struggle to contain Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored in an 11-minute appearance against Arsenal in their last league game. The forward has 17 goals for the campaign, including seven in 16 home appearances. With Forest shipping eight goals across their last five matches, Mateta is backed to cause them problems.
This trip should suit the visitors, as they’ve won all eight of their visits to sides in the bottom 10. Forest have also scored at least twice in seven of those matches, so they can pick off the league’s weaker sides. However, Nuno’s men have lost their solidity, while Palace are on the up. The Eagles have shipped 12 goals in their last four league matches, so backing both teams to score seems like the best way to go here.
