Curacao conceded seven goals in their opening 7-1 defeat to Germany, and while they showed more defensive stability to hold Ecuador to a 0-0 draw, that wasn’t a contest in which the Blue Wave didn’t give up plenty of chances. 

Dick Advocaat’s men conceded 27 efforts on goal, 15 shots on target, ten corners and an expected goals total of 2.84 in the stalemate with Ecuador. 

It’s a wonder as to how the Tri failed to score, and on the evidence of how Curacao have performed in their World Cup games against Germany and Ecuador, the Blue Wave look likely to concede plenty of opportunities to Ivory Coast. 

The Elephants were broken by a last-gasp Germany goal on Saturday night, but Emerse Fae’s men were the better side in the second half of that tie and they have a diamond in attack Yan Diomande.

The Leipzig star has the pace, drive and talent to cause any defence problems and Ange Bonny, Amad Diallo, Simon Adingra and Evann Guessand are also excellent attacking options. 

Curacao may run out of steam
